Light Up Your Practice with Backbends:
a Solstice Workshop with Amy Cooper
Saturday, December 20, 8:30-11AM
$25. Class size is limited; pre-registration is requested.
Yoga’s backbending postures cultivate openness and a feeling of uplift; they help clear pathways to enhance structural and energetic balance as well as facilitate greater freedom and spaciousness in the body, mind and heart. For the Winter Solstice, backbends can offer an embodied support for bringing the light of awareness into the awakening and movement toward brighter days. As much of nature in winter lies dormant in the earth, this time can support quietude and going within; it can be a time of gathering strength, out of which the dormant seeds are nourished; our inner growth and new inspirations can emerge… This extended class format will allow time for a deeper, progressive, safe exploration with the body and breath, as well as for reflection and self-inquiry. Please bring your yoga mat and writing material.

with Amy Cooper
A Mini-Retreat ~ Bringing Your Practice to Life

(Yoga Alliance CE course)
Join Amy for this yoga intensive and a deeper exploration into the journey of yoga. Although comprehensive, yoga asana is only one part of the 8-limbed path as laid out in the classical yoga tradition. The complete practice of the 8-limbs is a means by which we forge an intention to awaken and to unravel the obstacles, physical and mental, that create suffering. Following the path, we cultivate an awareness of our body/mind continuum from the outside inwards to uncover and access our spacious heart and peaceful nature.
This Intensive includes:
~ Discussion on the Foundations of yoga practice (Ethical Precepts)
~ Practice of Yoga Asana, Pranayama, Silence, Yoga Nidra, Meditation
~ Self Inquiry & Journaling
~ Dialogue
The morning portion will cover the first 4 limbs, and after lunch, the last 4 limbs to facilitate moving out into our lives from a deeper, more connected place. For yoga students with at least a year of steady practice.
Includes a half hour lunch ~ please bring your own.
